First Rosemont Show
Following 17 shows played from 78-81 at the Uptown Theater, this show marks the first at the Rosemont Horizon. In total, they would play there 13 times.

Curiously, though, after this show they wouldn't return until '88. This is a solid show. Performance was on a Sunday, just a few days (couple shows) prior to the excellent Dave's 20 release from Boulder on 12/9. Pumped up New Minglewood opener. Is it just me or do they like playing this one in Chicago? A strong and rollicking Sugaree follows. Gonna be a fun night! Next up, since "it's family night," explains Bobby, gonna do a couple "shoot-em-up polkas." Thanks, Bobby! Mama Tried->Mexicali is well-played. Jerry popping off on Mexicali, Bobby rhythm is excellent around him. Brent really settling in by this point in his tenure. Jer and Brent are paired up beautifully for Candyman, really nice vocals. Sweet, sweet show and Jerry's voice is perhaps finally back to form- at least until it isn't again. Rooster's next. More of that Chi blues, baby. Set continues, all sounds good, well-played. Fired up LLR. Next up some folksy blues with Jack-A-Roe and BIODTL. China-Rider to close! Seemless transition. Love how it slows, then picks up again for Rider. Makes for a strong closer. Samson opener is a bit slow going at first, but a couple minutes in it picks up steam. Perhaps the same could be said for the set, but there's a really lovely To Lay Me Down that follows. It segues into Estimated->Eyes. Bobby struggles for a moment or so during the rap, but sounds pretty cool, overall. Segue to speedy Eyes! Check out Jerry solo from 3:20-4:20. It's fast and jazzy. Next solo gets going around 5:20. Still more groovy, grateful goodness. I like Brent especially near its end, in roughly the last minute or so. Pearl Harbor space gives way to a solid NFA. Really dig these early 80s versions, funkier than prior and later years. Fine Wharf Rat that feels just a little rushed near the end and then Good Lovin to close. Good Bobby rap. Excellent Brokedown encore. Last one 14 shows prior.

Good Stuff
I didn't think the sound quality of the copy of this show we already had from CM needed an upgrade, but here it is! Nice show. Excellent sound. Thanks
